Open seminar: National Security Through Private Sector Regulation?

What is national security today and what is being done in its name? What role does private sector regulation play for national security?

National security is back at the top of the political agenda as we face global polycrisis. Total defence is being revived, but since last time, the world has changed beyond recognition.

Decades of outsourcing and privatization of security, not to mention the context of global interdependence, hyperconnectivity, and geopolitical tectonic shifts, force us to think new.

The INSIDER project has gathered a team of distinguished specialists in the field, inviting academics, defence and security sector officials, students, and engaged citizens into a timely and provocative discussion.

This seminar is part of the fundamental research project National Security through Private Sector Regulation? Critical Evaluation of Insider Threat Programs and Security Compliance in Current Geopolitical and Regulatory Context (INSIDER) funded by the Ministry of Defence of Norway, project no. 203480.

The event is jointly organized by OsloMet - Oslo Metropolitan University and the Norwegian Institute for Defence Studies.

The seminar is free and open for all upon online registration.
