Norway’s folk costume tradition encompasses multiple parallel narratives. While the «bunad» tradition preserves Norwegian cultural heritage, the festive attire movement embraces inclusion and sustainable innovation.
The exhibition Søm og samhørighet (Seam and Belonging) explores this diversity through festive attire and accessories by Lena Vida, Kersti Fosse Blålid, and The Historical Collection at the Department of Art, Design and Drama. The exhibition highlights how tradition and renewal coexist and how festive attire can be created and worn in new, inclusive ways.
