The research group's activity shed light on organizational perspectives such as change and development processes, professional learning communities and organizational culture. Leadership studies explore relationships and power within groups in organizations. Central themes are leaders’ interaction with employees, leaders' autonomy, identity, and professional development. In addition, leadership is seen in relation to macro-oriented research on public administration, organizational learning and pedagogical work.
The group’s research interests also include diversity management, where the focus is, among other things, on how ECEC leaders handles increased diversity in society and thus in ECEC. Supervision is an important task for leaders in the kindergarten, and members of the group also do research on this leadership task.
Research in educational leadership also deals with public administration. Studies of public administration are often about coordination of institutions and organizations.
