A key focus area is on processes in welfare bureaucracies whereby local level service providers shape and are shaped by their environments.
We have an institutional and organisational approach to the study of the welfare state. Accordingly, research on institutions, governance and management, innovation, knowledge, learning and development are central theoretical perspectives. We primarily use a case study approach combining qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, often in collaboration with other research milieus specialising in economic and statistical research approaches.
The group is mainly financed through the Research Council of Norway and projects financed by ministries and directorates.
