This project explores gendered patterns in youths’ leisure activities.
We will investigate whether there are gendered patterns in how boys and girls organise and are motivated for leisure time activities. We will also investigate the relationship between boys’ and girls’ leisure activities and their experiences with body issues and stress, and whether gendered leisure activities foster different possibilities or challenges in different environments.
The analysis is based on interview data from the first wave of the longitudinal qualitative research project Inequality in youth. We have performed interviews with 80 13-year olds in four different communities in Norway. Read about Inequality in Youth here.
