Healthy Food at the Sports Arena

The aim is to assess the selection of foods and beverages at children’s sports arenas in Norway and to identify facilitators and barriers to offer healthy food at the sports arena.

In Norway, the sports arenas are important avenues for the promotion of healthy behaviors as most of the children and adolescents participate in organized sport.

This makes the sports arena an important environment to address and promote a healthy eating.

Nevertheless, several international reports state that the sports arenas are often used to promote energy-dense and nutrient-poor food and beverages that are not in line with nutritional guidelines.

We have therefore established a research project to promote healthier food options at an important arena for children and adolescent.
