The project aims to investigate characteristics of the work-retirement transition and the factors contributing to when and how the transition takes place.
The transition from work to retirement may for some be an uncomplicated and long-awaited event, while others may find it to be a more difficult, and perhaps an unwanted, process. The aim of the project is to investigate characteristics of this transition and the factors contributing to when and how the transition takes place. Moreover, the project will address possible consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic for older people’s labour market and retirement patterns.
The analyses will build on both quantitative and qualitative data and include both workers who are approaching work exit and retirees who have recently left the labour market.
The project is a collaboration between NOVA at OsloMet and Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences (INN). The results will contribute to improved insights into the work-retirement transition and thereby provide a better understanding of the factors that are important for retirement behaviour, as well as identify conditions contributing to an extension of working life.
