In this project, we will study Vekstverket, Atico Solør Kompetanse AS, an initiative that has been operating for around five years in a rural area with high youth exclusion, and which so far appears to have achieved good results.
Approximately four out of five participants, who are young social welfare recipients, have returned to school or work with the help of this initiative, according to local statistics.
In this study, we will describe the initiative and its working methods, and, primarily through qualitative interviews, investigate how and why it works.
We will then discuss it in light of recent Nordic and international research on the inclusion of vulnerable youth in work or school.
Based on the investigation, we will outline how the initiative can be further developed, and whether it is suitable for dissemination, considering effective approaches described in recent Nordic research on the inclusion of youth in school, work and community.
