Exploring Relationships of Trust and Distrust Between Youth Populations and Public Services in Vulnerable Areas (Ungtillit)

The project will contribute to gathering and developing knowledge about what young people's trust and distrust of public helpers is about, and what contributes to public services succeeding in establishing strong relationships of trust where they are initially lacking.

The project is based on three selected districts in Oslo with poor living conditions, a high proportion of ethnic minorities and territorial stigma: Alna, Gamle Oslo and Søndre Nordstrand

The Ungtillit (Youngtrus) project will take place in collaboration between researchers at OsloMet, employees, NGOs and young people in the three districts.

The project consists of 4 work packages where we will:

  1. carry out reanalyses of the research group’s own previous research
  2. explore young people's trust/distrust experiences through interviews and conversations with young people and staff
  3. conduct workshops with young people, district employees and voluntary organizations both internally and across the districts
  4. prepare a research application and experiment with co-created research dissemination with district employees and young people

The project is funded by OsloMet’s strategic initiative for children and young people.
