In this course, you learn to create data driven, interactive content for web and mobile devices using free open source web technology. You will analyse data from different sources and produce digital stories for different platforms.
Admission requirements
This course is open to bachelor's degree students in journalism or media studies from our partner institutions. Course start presupposes a minimum of ten students.

The course includes:
- cartography
- statistics
- source criticism
- applied mathematics
- programming
- visualization
The course is suited for web journalism and other kinds of web content creation.
Teaching methods
This course has a high degree of project based activities. Students will have readings and exercises to do between classes. Work will be performed individually, in groups and students will be required to have a presentation.

Costs
There is no semester fee for exchange students.
Exam and assessment
Course requirements that must be completed and approved before handing in the exam:
- individual assignment: datamap
- group presentation
- project plan for final exam assignment
The final exam consists of two parts:
- completion of a data driven visualised product done individually or by groups of maximum three students
- an individual paper describing the process of the final project
