Equipment for the visually impaired
The library in P48 have a reading-tv, a book and text scanner for the visually impaired and users with special needs. The equipment is useful for visually impaired, dyslexic, and others with reading difficulties, or who wish to have text read aloud.
Contact the librarians or the IT Service Desk in P48 if you need help with the equipment.
Technical equipment
- ClearView+ is an electronic video magnifier which can magnify text, images etc. Designed to assist the visually impaired.
- Book scanner: you can quickly scan book pages and images, and adjust resolution, white balance and more. Send the file to yourself by e-mail, or save it on a memory stick. The maximum limit for sending e-mails is 1 GB, so bring a memory stick if you are going to scan a lot.
Adapted books
The library at P48 has, together with Leser søker bok, a small collection of adapted literature. Studies show that one in three adults have some sort of reading difficulty. These books are adapted to different readers and their reading difficulties. In the Lettlest collection in the Oria search service, you will find, for example, books with large print, braille and sensory books. Mainly in Norwegian (oria.no).
Search by voice in Oria
In Oria, you can click on the microphone in the search field and say what you want to search for (oria.no). Works in browsers that support the Web Speech API, for example Chrome.
