Religious diversity in public spaces (PHUV9420)

PhD course

This course explores the causes and consequences of religious diversity in a number of societies. The course combines insights from the social sciences and humanities, including philosophy and gender studies, with case studies from different national contexts.

Application and admission

The application deadline is 1 June.

Supplementary application rounds from 15 June with deadline 1 August for study places that were not filled during the primary application round. First come, first served rules will be applied. 

Admission requirements

The admission requirement is a five-year master’s degree (three years + two years) or equivalent qualifications in teacher education, other pedagogical education, educational science, development studies, or other education on equivalent level in subjects relevant for teacher education.

In case of a large number of applicants, PhD students enrolled in the PhD programme in Educational Sciences for Teacher Education will be prioritized, then students in other PhD programmes, then academic employees at the Faculty of Education and International Studies.

Applicants that are not enrolled on the program at the Faculty of Education and International Studies at OsloMet must send an application with a project summary of maximally 300 words. The summary is to be uploaded to the application in Søknadsweb.

Please note: The course can be held if admission is granted to five or more students.

If you have previously taken a PhD course in the PhD programme in Educational Sciences for Teacher Education, you should still have the admission and can apply via Studentweb (student.oslomet.no). If you have problems with applying, please contact us at phd-lui@oslomet.no. 

If you are a first time applicant, please follow this recipe:

  1. Register your application in Søknadsweb (fsweb.no).
  2. Upload the required documentation in Søknadsweb.

  • In a PhD programme at OsloMet:
    • No documentation requirement.
  • In a PhD programme outside OsloMet (at a Norwegian university):
    • Confirmation from your PhD programme containing: Name of the PhD programme, institution, and the month and year you started.
    • Final diploma/Degree certificate (master' s level)*
    • Transcript / mark sheets (master' s level)*
  • An Academic Employee at OsloMet:
    • Final diploma/Degree certificate (bachelor's and master' s level)*

  • An Academic Employee at a university other than OsloMet (at a Norwegian university):
    • Final diploma/Degree certificate (bachelor's and master' s level)*

It is mandatory to do all steps within the application deadline. Applications without required documentation will not be processed.

Course certificate

Participants who have completed and passed  the course may obtain documentation themselves. You can order a transcript of grades on Studentweb (fsweb.no) or it can be obtained from Vitnemålsportalen (vitnemalsportalen.no).
