Application and admission
Application deadlines
Ordinary application deadlines are:
- For courses starting in autumn: 1 June
- For courses starting in spring: 15 October
Some courses may have other application deadlines. See the website for your course.
Supplementary admission
If there are still available study places after the application deadline, the admission portal (Søknadsweb) will be open again two weeks after the original application deadline. First come, first served rules will be applied.

How to apply
If you have previously taken a PhD course in the PhD programme in Educational Sciences for Teacher Education, you should still have the admission and can apply via Studentweb (student.oslomet.no). If you have problems with applying, please contact us at phd-lui@oslomet.no.

- Upload the required documentation in Søknadsweb.

- Confirmation from your PhD programme containing: Name of the PhD programme, institution, and the month and year you started.
- Final diploma/Degree certificate (master' s level). Does not apply to applicants with a master's degree from OsloMet.

It is mandatory to do all steps within the application deadline. Applications without required documentation will not be processed.
Activating your IT-account
After you have been offered a place on a PhD course, you get a separate IT account which gives you access to e-mail, Canvas, Studentweb, all computers at the university, wireless network and access to a number of tools and services at OsloMet. The IT account must be activated before you can access services and systems.
You receive e-mail and SMS with activation information about a week before the start of your studies. Use this information to activate your IT account.
The activation consists of five simple steps:
- Go to the access page (tilgang.sikt.no) - Select "Activate account"
- Enter your username (s+your student number, e.g. s123456) and activation password
- Accept OsloMet's safety instructions
- Create your own personal password, use a minimum of 16 characters
- Activate two-factor authentication (student.oslomet.no)
If you have started a course and are employed at the same time, you have both an employee and student account. See point about double user account below.
Using Canvas
Canvas is a learning platform where you can find information and resources. To access the teaching room in Canvas, you must do the following depending on which category of student you are:
Individual course student who has been a student at OsloMet before
Log in with the user account you already have.
Individual course student who has not been a student at OsloMet
You must activate your user account. After you have been offered a study place, you will receive an e-mail from the IT service desk about this.
Semester registration and withdrawal from the exam
On Studentweb (fsweb.no) you can see which courses you are registered for. Here you can also withdraw from the exam, find your candidate number and see the examination grade.
Semester fee
As a student on PhD courses, you do not have to pay semester fees.
Syllabus and schedules
In our syllabus list system, Leganto (exlibrisgroup.com), you can find the syllabus list by searching for the course code.
In the Lecture schedules system TP (tp.educloud.no) you can see the schedule for all PhD subjects.
Digital teaching and Zoom
For some students, some of the teaching will be digital. You will find information in your timetable and in Canvas (student.oslomet.no) about which teaching is physical and which is digital.
Zoom is one of the most used tools for digital teaching. Please install and familiarize yourself with the tool as soon as you have an active IT account. Read more about how we use Zoom in digital teaching at OsloMet (student.oslomet.no).
Examination (withdrawal deadline, registration, deregistration, illness)

Course certificate
When you have completed and passed the course, you may obtain documentation yourself. You can order a transcript of grades on Studentweb (fsweb.no) or it can be obtained from Vitnemålsportalen (vitnemålsportalen.no).
