Programme content
The specialization in Robotics and Control emphasizes understanding the technologies and methodologies behind modern robots, drones, industrial process control and autonomous systems.
Robotics and control systems are combined with AI and computer technologies, to develop and demonstrate digital twins, cyber-physical systems, smart production technology and Industry 4.0.
As a ACIT robotics and control student, you will start the first semester with social-scientific activities. You will get to know your peer-students, teachers and our research facilities.
Our robotics and control courses are focused on solving real industrial problems.
You will participate in three robotics and control courses (10 ECTS each), and as an elective course you can choose one of the many ACIT elective courses.
In our specialisation courses, you will work on inspiring assignments in groups of two to five students, and in the middle of the third semester you choose an application area for your individual project-based exam.
During the two years you will become fluent in presenting and documenting your work with high academic standard. For your master thesis, you can join our industrial research projects or plan your own project with a company.
The aim of the specialization is for you to
- learn the theories, technologies and methodologies used in modern robotics and control systems
- gain hands-on practical experience and technical skills in implementing robotics and control methods to solve real-world problems
- understand what is needed to develop robotic and intelligent systems, and use them to create innovative solutions and solve societal challenges
How the programme is taught
You write a master's thesis of either 30 or 60 credits, where you get time to immerse yourself in ongoing research at OsloMet, or work on a concrete and limited project of your own choosing.
All courses are taught in English.
The programme focuses on active forms of learning where you learn advanced theory through the practical use of technology.
You will be expected to take responsibility in your studies, because a completed master's degree must be proof of a good ability to work independently. Therefore, the study's teaching is more closely organized at the beginning than towards the end, where the choices and responsibility rest to a greater extent on you as a student.
You will have a variety of
- lectures
- seminars
- digital learning tools
- group work
- individual work
- project work
