Blant annet forskes det på atferdsøkonomi, makroøkonomi, anvendt mikroøkonomi, arbeidsmarked og lønnsdannelse, miljø- og klimaøkonomi, ressursøkonomi, velferdsforskning, politisk økonomi, næringsøkonomi og konkurranseanalyse, konkurranserett samt utviklingsøkonomi. Faggruppen er ansvarlig for undervisningen i alle emner innen samfunnsøkonomi, samt metodeemnene på Handelshøyskolen.
